ABOUT JOY KIM
Joy Kim is a multi-disciplinary designer and creative lead with more than a decade of experience in millinery. Kim has a background in art and curation and finished a millinery course at Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. Her hats are products resulting from her knowledge of the historical and cultural significance of these wearable objects. Her unique vision and goal for these handmade objects is for them to be worn in a show of celebration and to give the wearer a sense of contemporary elegance. Custom and sourced locally in New York City, Kim creates personalized hats of the finest quality. In doing so, she draws from her influences to create harmonious and timeless pieces.
Motivated by her curiosity of how the human body moves, she imagines designs that help improve upon the wearing experience. Kim’s attention to detail supports a comfortable fit that brings confidence to her clients making a deep human connection. Her process begins with research and observation of different lifestyles in order to evolve her designs to the needs of her wearers. Kim follows her cultivated intuition, but also incorporates her understanding of science and function to deliver innovative wearable experiences.
